Arsenal go to Old Trafford this Sunday in a classic rubber match with Manchester United. Here’s a status update on the current injury list.

Fitness has plagued Arsenal for the first half of the season, regaining momentum in the second half as players returned to fitness.

The Gunners are currently dealing with two official injuries with three others fighting for match fitness:

Danny Welbeck, the hero of the last visit to Old Trafford in March, has been out with knee inflammation since the Chelsea match on the 26th April. He is being currently reported by the Guardian as being doubtful, but is subject to a late fitness test on Sunday.

With respect to Welbeck, Arsene Wenger is quoted as saying, “Danny Welbeck has a little possibility to be fit.” Adding, “Maybe Welbeck will be available but at the moment he looks short.” He has stated that players were 50/50 and doubtful on Thursday in the past, only to have them start that weekend. Perhaps Le Prof’s mastered how to play the injury media game after all.

Mathieu Debuchy is still out with a hamstring strain following the FA Cup match with Reading on the 18th April. His return from the treatment room is still unknown.

The Guardian also goes on to say later that Aaron Ramsey was “still to return to training following the leg injury he sustained against Hull.” He trained and played last week, so take from this what you will. Plan on him being available on Sunday.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had a minor setback in rehab from his iliopsoas inflammation suffered in the FA Cup match with United on 9th March. He is ruled out for Sunday.

Mikel Arteta and Abou Diaby, having recovered from their injures, are still working to return to match fitness, but are also ruled out for Sunday.
