Lukasz Fabianski enjoyed a winning return to the Emirates on Monday night.

The keeper, who endured something of a torrid time while at Arsenal with various high-profile errors as well as a number of lengthy spells on the sidelines though injury, rejected Arsene Wenger’s requests to remain at the club and left on a free in the summer.

Looking to establish himself somewhere as a number one, he has done exactly that with the Swans and has had a great season, showing exactly why Wenger was so keen to get him to remain at the club.

Keeping a cleansheet at the Emirates, he was in great form although Arsenal’s poor finishing made it slightly easier for him than it needed to be.

Speaking after the match, the Pole said

“I was a little bit emotional before the game, but then when you step onto the pitch you just focus on the game.

“(I’m) just happy with the result. I think the whole team put on a massive effort to get a result and you could see they (Arsenal) were more on the ball but we always looked very dangerous on the break and we’re happy enough we managed to get one.”

I was always a fan of Fabianski and would have liked to have seen him remain at the club. Sadly, that wasn’t to be so all here at Cannon Towers wish him all the best. No hard feelings here at all, he waited for his chance and, in the end, realised he needed to move to get it.

Had he been at the club this season, he would most probably be the number one again.

That’s life, I guess.
