Hands up if you think Joel Campbell has a future at Arsenal?

Yeah, me neither and it seems that even the player is taking a quite relaxed approach to his future just days after finally netting his first goal for Villarreal.

Speaking recently, Arsene Wenger pointed out that a number of players, namely Yaya Sanogo, Lukas Podolski, and Joel Campbell, will be returning to the club in the summer, but what didn’t overly get much attention is that he also said that some would have to make way.

Signing a new deal before he left on loan, Campbell is under no illusion that Arsenal definitely lie in his future as he told the press in Spain “I do not think about those things, I focus only on what’s left (of the season).

“I respect this club and what might happen in the future, you can never rule anything out.”

His last comments were in relation to being asked if he had a future with the Spanish side. Adding about his long-awaited goal, Campbell said “It was special for me, I was really keen to dedicate it to my baby and help the team get to Europa. I was eager to play, I didn’t play for six months and now I’m with a team who are playing well. Bit by bit I’m recovering my level.”

Picked for the Costa Rica team that will compete in the Gold Cup in July, Campbell’s future is very much up in the air.

If I had to place any money on it, I’d wager that Arsenal will look to shift him on permanently when the window opens and I’d be very surprised if he was still an Arsenal player when the windows closes.
