Rightback Hector Bellerin has been speaking with Arsenal.com about the feeling at the club, as well as the playing style, and how much fun he’s having.

Bellerin has come on leaps and bounds this season.

Originally bought from Barcelona in 2011, the 20-year-old sat pretty firmly in the Arsenal reserves, occasionally getting on the first team bench or getting a run about in a cup game, before being loaned out to Watford last season.

When he returned, it looked as if he’d just go back to the reserves.

However, an injury to Mathieu Debuchy and then illness to Calum Chambers gave Bellerin a chance in the starting 11. Whether this was luck, perseverance, or both, we’ll never know, but the Spaniard definitely believes his hard work has paid off.

“We have loads of players in my position. But I think that’s a really positive thing because it makes you train and work harder, which is a good thing for us. We have really good players fighting for their spots in every position, so that’s one of the reasons why everyone is performing the way that they are, because it’s bringing out the best in us.”

He was quick to praise Arsenal’s attitude towards young players, saying, “The fact that Arsenal plays that kind of football is going to help you. That was really important [in coming to Arsenal] and the fact that Arsenal like to bring young players through.”

He also spoke about the fun they have at the club, saying, “It’s always good fun. You always enjoy yourself playing with these players around you,” before modestly admitting, “They’re all top players and it’s really helpful. They make you look like you’re a good player as well! It’s really nice to play alongside them and when we play at home with our crowd it’s always a really great feeling.”
