Arsenal have apparently made an offer of €14m for Daniele Rugani.

Or they’re thinking about making a bid.

Or they have a bid prepared.

Or something.

The 20-year-old centre back has been linked with Arsenal for a few months now but Arsene Wenger was quite adamant that he would not be bringing another player in that position to the club and it’s not hard to see why. With Gabriel only just arriving, and Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Calum Chambers already at the club, the need is significantly different than it was this time last year.

Rugani is wanted by Genoa, currently on loan with Empoli for a second season and now fully owned by Juventus (after sharing his registration with Empoli) so there are a number of clubs with some interest in him.

While it’s easy to dismiss all rumours like this on the basis of Wenger’ comments, when you consider that Rugani is just 20 the manager could have one eye on the future when Per leaves.

That being said, would he be able to convince the youngster to leave Italy where he is playing regularly for a place on the Arsenal bench?

Unlikely.
