Early this month, Daily Cannon reported on the story that Arsenal were reprtedly in talks to bring Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas to London.

Despite Casillas not wanting a move and Arsene Wenger saying he wasn’t really that interested in buying a keeper these ‘talks‘ have apparently developed into a bid.

According to a report from Fichajes, translated in the Metro, Arsenal have put forward a seemingly unknown amount of money for the 33-year-old.

Yes – a bid for a player who’s said he’s not moving and who the club don’t seem to think they need.

I don’t need to tell you that this story is probably nonsense.

Although personally, I wouldn’t like to rule out buying a new pair of experienced safe hands completely, Arsene Wenger more or less has. The boss seems happy enough with David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny and, despite Ospina’s little blip against Swansea City, I don’t see us realistically reinforcing in the area.

Casillas was also heavily linked with Arsenal last summer. And probably the summer before that as well.
