Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, thinks he’s got the answer to Arsenal’s problems: Martin Skrtel.

The Liverpool centreback, who’s apparently in talks with the Merseyside team over a new contract, has featured for them 31 times in the Premier League this season.

Ex-Arsenal forward, Wright, thinks we should sign the defender, as apparently, he really rates him.

“Surely someone from the top four should go and get Skrtel! Would love him to go to Arsenal,” he said.

Although I understand Wright only has Arsenal’s best interests at heart, I’m not sure signing Skrtel is the answer.

Although reinforcements are always good and I can understand why Wright would like the Slovakian, no-nonsense defender, I’m not sure the 30-year-old is our type of player now and the likelihood of Liverpool selling to us is slim-to-none.

Add onto this the fact that Arsene Wenger has point blank ruled out buying any more defenders, especially centrebacks, and you’ve got an extremely unlikely transfer.

Saying this, we’ve not really been linked with the player, Wright’s just given his opinion, which he’s perfectly entitled to do.
