Francis Coquelin was the man of the match against Burnley.

At his destructive best, he was the interception king as he broke up play without resorting to fouling which was Burnley’s key tactic for the game.

Speaking to the press after the game, the boss was quick to praise the effect that Le Coq has on the side, bringing to the team different qualities that we know only too well are not strong in others.

“First of all he’s shown his individual quality winning the ball and passing it quickly, and he’s very strong in the challenges,” Wenger said. “He also contributes to the balance of the team and that’s very difficult to measure. You know that the balance of the team sometimes depends on one player who has some characteristics that the others don’t. He looks like he has hugely contributed to that.”

The win was Arsenal’s eighth in a row in the league, a run that no other side in the division has managed and with games running out for all of them it seems like it will stand as the best winning sequence of the campaign. What might have been had arsenal had just a few of their crippled players available to them earlier.

“When you look at the number of players we had out for four months, not two weeks,” Wenger continued. “Since the start of the season, we have had our squad back since January and that makes a difference.

“Let’s not focus too much on that and focus on the next game, and give absolutely everything to finish in a strong way. We are in the FA Cup semi-final, we have six games to go with 66 points and we want to continue our run now.”
