Arsenal ladies registered their first league win of the new season with a 2-0 win over Bristol Academy on Wednesday night.

As we previewed, Bristol have endured a horror season so far (P4 L4 F1 A18 before this game) and, as expected, the Gunners kick-started their season with a straightforward win at Meadow Park.

First half goals from Carla Humphrey and Vicky Losada, her first for the club since signing before the new season got under way, saw the Gunners take a 2-0 lead into the break.

Unable to add to their tally in the second half, the ladies saw out the game while keeping a cleansheet.

The three points moved Arsenal to second in the table, two points behind leaders Chelsea and ahead of Man City on goal difference. This year’s reigning champions, Liverpool, are one point behind in fourth place.

This was Arsenal’s fourth game of the season, having drawn their first league game against Notts County while winning their FA Cup tie against Milwall 7-0 before being knocked out by Chelsea on Sunday in a 2-1 home defeat.

Arsenal’s next opponent is a massive game against Manchester City on 19th April.
