Lukas Podolski dreams of opening a sports bar and it seems like he’s already planning on doing just that.

Set to be located in his favourite place on the planet, Cologne, negotiations are already underway with Gaffel-Brauerei about taking over the Old Market in the heart of Cologne’s carnival centre. An historic building first mentioned in history in 1213, it was badly damaged in 1943 by Allied bombs.

Speaking to Bild. Nassim Touihri, Poldi’s advisor, said “It is a long-standing dream of Lukas to be restaurateur. I can confirm that there are plans. However – standing today – fix anything yet. But perhaps soon, the dream of Lukas will be fulfilled”

Beyond opening a sports bar in his hometown, it’s not clear what the future holds for the German World Cup winner.

Flopping in Italy with Inter Milan, he has his eyes set on seeing out the final year of his Arsenal contract with the Gunners.

Whether Arsene Wenger thinks that’s a viable plan remains to be seen.
