Reports from France are claiming that Arsenal have presented Abou Diaby with a new deal.

Unlike some reports which are doing the rounds at the minute claiming that he’s set for a new three-year deal and a testimonial, claims which are based on a fake tweet, these French reports are alleging that Arsenal have offered him a pay-per-play deal which would fit with what Arsene Wenger said recently.

Diaby continued his return from injury with a 60-minute-appearance for the u21’s on Tuesday night at the Emirates as they demolished Stoke 4-1, in what was the midfielder’s first competitive game in 2015. This was an additional 15 minutes on his appearance for an Arsenal XI against Brentford where he played the first half.

It’s hard to know how reliable the French report is as the claim being made also said that Diaby is yet to decide what to do. You would have to consider that the midfielder would bite the hand off the club even if they offered him a deal which meant he had to pay Arsenal himself, such is his desperation to not only play football but to repay Wenger and the club for standing by him during his injury hell which has seemed never ending.

Should he manage to make it to the end of the season without breaking down again, the smart money would, however, be on him remaining at the club.
