Freddie Ljungberg has been singing the praises of Aaron Ramsey.

The Swede, who played for Arsenal between 1998 and 2007, making some 328 appearances in which he scored 72 goals, told reporters “I rate him very highly; last season he had an amazing season.

“Unfortunately he has some problems sometimes with injuries, but I think that’s something they can fix.

“At the beginning of his Arsenal career it didn’t go so great, but for me that shows he has great mental strength to keep on going.

“Then to explode like he did last season was unbelievable and no one was more happy than I was for that, and I think he has the potential to be a top, top, top player.

“He is already but to keep going from season to season.”

Ramsey has struggled this season to get together a run of form due to the numerous hamstring problems that he’s suffered but the club are now optimistic that they’ve got to the bottom of what was causing all the twangs, although of course they didn’t share that with us mere mortals.

The Welshman, who scored 18 goals in 38 appearances last season, has managed 50% of that goal tally this year, but as he looks to relax on the pitch and let things come more naturally to him, it would be a brave person who bets on him being done scoring for the season, especially with Wembley on the horizon.
