A lethargic but hard-fought win away to Burnley means Arsenal hold firm in second place.

Although we looked knackered and didn’t exactly play the best football we’ve ever played, these are the type of games where it’s easy to drop points.

We looked leggy and lethargic and most of our team just wasn’t at the races on Saturday. Honestly, we could’ve done with making earlier subs than the 80th minute.

Saying that, we didn’t play terribly and, after going a goal ahead early in the first half courtesy of Aaron Ramsey, we stood reasonably firm. That’s not to say there weren’t a couple of hairy moments, especially in the middle of the second half where our energy was dwindling, but for the most part, we dealt with the pressure.

Now it’s time to get some proper rest ahead of our FA Cup semi-final tie against Reading next weekend.

David Ospina 7

He made a well-timed challenge early on, saved a couple of shots and kept a clean sheet. No real complaints from me.

Hector Bellerin 7

Now that he’s started to really develop as a defender, I’ve noticed his skill when he’s on the ball going forward has also started to improve. His confidence is growing match-by-match.

Per Mertesacker 7

A couple of key interceptions and defensive headers. A solid game.

Laurent Koscielny 6

Not at his best today. His decision-making was a little off and he made a couple of defensive errors he wouldn’t usually make.

Nacho Monreal 7

Another solid performance. He linked up with Mesut Ozil well in the second half.

Francis Coquelin 8

He’s fast becoming one of my favourite players and, in my opinion, was our best player against Burnley. The amount of interceptions he makes in key areas is staggering and his decision-making is always spot on.

Santi Cazorla 6.5

Another player who didn’t have a great match. He looked distinctly tired and made some strange shots from outside the area, which he blasted over the bar.

Aaron Ramsey 7.5

Scored a goal and looked as if he could potentially score again in the second half.

Mesut Ozil 7

What a pass to Ramsey in the second half. You know the one I mean. Unreal vision.

Alexis Sanchez 7

He made a couple of seemingly wayward passes but showed the hunger that we love to see from our players. Even in the final ten minutes he was chasing back, covering and making interceptions.

Olivier Giroud 7

Another player who didn’t really have a great game. Hopefully, as with the rest of the team, he just needs a rest.

SUBS

Danny Welbeck N/A

He was only on the pitch for 10 minutes but was making good runs. He still needs to work on his composure and movement in front of goal, though.

Calum Chambers N/A

Was only on the pitch for one minute.
