Marouane Fellaini likes to use his arms.

You know that, I know that, Francis Coquelin’s nose knows that.

But the Frenchman, who went head-to-head, sort off, with the Belgian at Old Trafford in the FA Cup, says he has no problem with the way the giant bogbrush plays.

Speaking to the Telegraph in the build up to Saturday’s game against Liverpool, Coquelin said “Fellaini was the one in my zone. It was a big battle.

“He’s a tall guy, really strong, uses his arm quite well – on my nose as well! But it was part of the game. I like this type of game, it’s a different challenge.”

Of course, the game at Old Trafford this season was a world away from the one which introcued Coquelin to the Arsenal support as a first team player. Injuries forced Wenger to make a number of changes for the infamous 8-2 and Coquelin was one of a few players to get their debuts that day.

“The 8-2 was one of those games you just want to forget. It was good to win there this season and I was happy to be part of it because it could erase a bit what happened on my debut.

“I always had belief in myself and there is always going to be criticism. At the minute it is all positive because we are getting the right results and I am putting in a performance, but maybe tomorrow it will be a different world.

“You always get criticism, but you just have to get your head down, work hard and it all pays off.”

Coquelin’s belief is certainly showing through in his performances, especially in the big games as he was integral, once again, to Arsenal continuing their winning run as they put four past Liverpool. Signing a new deal, it seems like Le Coq has his heart set on sticking around at Arsenal.

“When the manager plays me like he does at the minute, playing every game, it means he’s got confidence in me so,” he continued. “Hopefully, in the next few years it will be the same.”
