Turn up, work hard, take the points.

That’s what we said in our predictions.

Did we get anything else right?

Lee Hurley Win 2-0

We didn’t get the second goal but, as predicted, it was a game that was dependent on hardwork and solidity. Not surprising, then, that Francis Coquelin was voted man-of-the-match. Harder than I thought it would be, but then, I’m an idiot.

To Wembley!

Helen Trantum Win 2-1

The goal margin was correct if not the exact score and scorer – as expected Burnley’s defence-first approach made for a rather dull game, but we did at least avoid too much of the anticipated scariness towards the end.

Yet another result ground out in exactly the manner that Spurs failed to do last weekend. If it was anyone else, the media would be calling it the mark of champions…

To steal from The Sun’s World Cup adverts of 2010 – “maybe, just maybe…”

Stephen Bradley Win 4-0

That was one of those games that those who hark back to the ‘1-0 to the Arsenal’ days would have enjoyed.

Compact and efficient defence, with an attack that countered at will. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked.

I thought Arsenal would try to attack more once we went ahead, but once the lead was established, the shutters were brought down and that was the end of that.

A throughly professional performance.

Paul Williams Win 2-1

Midfield and Olivier Giroud unstoppable? Not so much today, though I thought Coquelin was our stand out performer.

Burnley a tough nut to crack? Absolutely.

Thanks to Aaron Ramsey’s first half goal we managed it, with few alarms and no surprises. 1-0 to Arsenal, job done, move onto the next one.

Sylvain Jamet Win 3-1

I predicted a 3-1 win but we did not concede which is great but did not score as many as expected due to lack of penetration.

Lewis Ambrose Win 2-1

Pretty much as I’d expected, Burnley were just organised and hard working.  We got the opener, which was crucial.

We more than nicked it, seeing the game out comfortably enough, but my predicted 2-1 win was close as a narrow victory.

That was a very very tough game. Eight in a row.

Nia Griffiths Win 2-0

A bit of an ugly win but a win nonetheless. We had moments of our usual fluid, short passing and build-up play but ultimately we looked a little tired and a couple of our main men were struggling.

Combine that with some strange referee decisions early on and Burnley doing their best to foul us all over the pitch, and I’m actually pretty surprised we came away with all three points in the end.

I predicted we’d win a little more comfortably, with a 2-0 scoreline, but did think we knew the pressure would be on and may not be at our best.

A well-fought, important win, that one.

Andi Foster Win 3-1

I got the score wrong (again), but the right result.

Arsenal are in great form and kept a clean sheet.

The next game against Chelsea though will be the real test and will really show how far Arsenal have come…

Sean Ferguson Win 2-0

Not the prettiest game but a wins a win. Imagine that was painful to watch for a neutral, wasn’t exactly a hoot for Arsenal fans either! Predicted a 2 0 win before the game, once we got the early goal I was sure we’d score again but it wasn’t to be.

Coquelin probably our best player with Ramsey and Alexis putting in decent shifts. A few others seemed to struggle to get in to the game, maybe to do with being hacked to bits in the first half. Or maybe they were playing with one eye on next weekend? Who knows… A nice finish from Ramsey the only highlight going forward really. Koscielny looked to be struggling at times, guessing he wouldn’t have started if Gabriel didn’t have an illness.

Eight wins in a row, we closed the gap on Chelsea to four points (OK, they’ve got two games in hand but come on QPR) and a game closer to St Totteringham’s Day.

Overall a successful day!

Mark Fine Win 3-1

Not the goal fest I thought it would be, primarily because we were happier sitting back with possession more than attacking. It is a result nonetheless.

Burnley were as tenacious as I expected, but they were hindered by the wind, which took away any long ball hopes. But by sitting back patiently, I felt we beat them technically, frustrated them into multiple fouls, and just plain outlasted them.

Burnley started to tank around 70-75 minutes as expected, but never really yielded to our pressure. They continued on fumes for the remainder, making only one substitution in stoppage time, again because of their lack of bench depth.

At no point was I worried, though. Burnley had several opportunities to level the match. This was basically 90 minutes of pitch practice for Arsenal, which is fine if you win – and we did.

Another three points and eight straight since Spurs – best winning streak in the league this season.

On to Wembley and the FA Cup Semi with Reading

Anita Sambol Win 2-0

Mark me as drunk [her words after the game].

Charlotte Marshall Win 2-1

I can’t say I enjoyed much of that, with Burnley trying their level best to break up our play all over the pitch with niggly fouls, and Arsenal players looking tired at times.

But three points are three points, and that makes it eight wins on the bounce.

On to Wembley!
