Mesut Ozil answered all his critics with a wonderful display against Liverpool.

Pulling the strings and pulling Liverpool apart, he capped off a superb display with a splendid freekick to make it 2-0 to Arsenal as part of the eight-minute blitz that ended Liverpool’s Champions League hopes for another year (barring a collapse by two of Arsenal, United and City).

Speaking after the game at his post-match press conference, Arsene Wenger was gushing about his World Cup winner.

“What he does is always classy, intelligent and the timing of his passes is absolutely fantastic,” Wenger said

“He’s agile, flexible and always available in between the lines. When you play with him in the team, you would love to play with him. He’s sometimes criticised because of his physical challenges but I believe he’s on the way and is improving on that at the moment. He makes a big effort to work hard and be disciplined for the team.”

Parts of the media seem to be under the impression that Ozil is heavily criticised by Arsenal fans.

They must be confusing us with them, for the only people I ever see criticising the German are those paid to have opinions about football despite clearly knowing nothing about the game.
