I hate the international break.

It bores me.

I can’t get that excited about international football when it’s basically just a ‘bigger’ nation comfortably beating a ‘smaller’ nation and I just spend the whole two weeks hoping no Arsenal player gets injured.

So to get you through the final days of the international break and whet your appetite for our game against Liverpool on Saturday, I’ve compiled my top 10 favourite Arsenal goals v Liverpool… Enjoy!

10. Henry – Highbury

To start with, not a great goal but a one that made me laugh as I was watching the game with a Liverpool fan who spent a lot of the game saying Gerrard is better than Henry. Then this happened, it was so perfectly timed that my mate didn’t say a word until full-time. Even then he just said ‘bye‘ as he went home.

Cheers “greatest midfielder that ever lived” Stevie G.

9. Rosicky – Anfield

In similar circumstances to the above goal, the same mate kept telling me Hleb and Rosicky were rubbish (he used a harsher phrase than that…) when the line-ups were announced. It gave me great pleasure when they combined to open the scoring. A tidy build up play between the two and a precise first time finish.

A wonderful goal.

8. van Persie – Anfield

A 93rd minute winner from a brilliant volley beating Reina at the near post. Wonderful stuff. This was the season Song and van Persie combined numerous times but this one is second only to the goal against Everton that season.

7. Vieira – Anfield

A lovely team goal. Lauren to Vieira to Henry to Pires to Vieira to make it 1-1. The passing is so slick and accurate that it carves the Liverpool defence apart and all Vieira needs to do after that is cooly chip the ball over Chris Kirkland.

6. Arshavin – Anfield

Without doubt his highlight in an Arsenal shirt, four goals in one game at Anfield is pretty spectacular. My favourite of the bunch was the little Russians second. Some anticipation to beat Arbeloa to the ball before curling the ball away from Pepe Reina to make it 2-2 in a pretty nuts game at Anfield. This game always makes me think “if only” as I was desperate to see Arshavin succeed at Arsenal.

5. Ramsey – Emirates stadium

The most recent goal on this list. You only have to go back to last season to find it. Back when Rambo was in the form of his life and could do no wrong. After being fed the ball by Ozil about 20 yards out he takes one touch before setting himself up to fire home.

4. Robert Pires – Anfield

The winner in a 2-1 win. The clichéd “a goal good enough to win any game” fits perfectly with this finish. Up there with one of my favourite Pires goals.

3. Charlie George – Wembley

Any goal to win the FA Cup is going to be memorable, one to win it in extra time is even more special. This was also the goal that clinched our first double. What’s not to like?

2. Thierry Henry – Highbury

After being knocked out of the FA Cup and Champions League by Man Utd and Chelsea in the previous week this was the game that was supposed to end our unbeaten run and cost us the league. We went 2-1 down before Bobby Pires pulled it back to make it 2-2 then enter The King.

After picking the ball up just inside the Liverpool half he ran at the Liverpool defence making half of them fall over before slotting away past the keeper. We ended up winning 4-2 with Thierry also grabbing the fourth and sealing his hat-trick.

1. Michael Thomas – Anfield

This doesn’t really need too much of an explanation really. The game and goal to end the closest league finish ever. You all know the goal by now. Dixon to Smith to Thomas and it’s 2-0. Liverpool couldn’t believe, Michael Thomas does some weird flip on his head celebration.

Goal gives me tingles every time I see it.
