Aaron Ramsey got himself back in the starting lineup and on the scoresheet against West Ham on Saturday.

Playing a delightful one-two with Olivier Giroud, the Welsh Jesus finished off a typical Arsenal move to net the Gunners second of the afternoon and make safe the points.

Given that Manchester City went on to lose at Burnley, the result has even more significance now leaving Arsenal just one point behind the ‘title contenders’.

Speaking to Arsenal.com after the match, Ramsey said of West Ham

“They have done really well this season, so we expected a tough game, and we certainly got that in the first half. We found them tough to break down but we got the goal at the end of the half and then in the second half it opened up a bit for us and we took full advantage of that.

“In the end it was a bit more convincing than the result might suggest.”

Theo Walcott spurned a number of great chances in the first half to give Arsenal a comfortable cushion but it was only Olivier Giroud’s injury time strike that separated the sides at the break.

The introduction of Danny Welbeck and Santi Cazorla upped the tempo in the second half and, in the end, the game was result was more than comfortable.

Focus now turns to Mission Monaco Impossible, with Aaron adding

“We need to score goals. So we will go there and try to score three or more goals and hopefully not concede any. That’s our target and that’s how we will approach it.

“We had a sloppy first leg and we’ve made it quite difficult for ourselves but it’s not over yet. We are more than capable of scoring three goals. We scored three today and we believe in ourselves. We’ll go into the game believing we can achieve that.”
