Vyan Sampson has undergone knee surgery and will now miss the next four months of the season.

The news will come as something of a blow to the defender as the new season has only just started.

As we noted earlier in the year in our profile of the tall defender, Sampson got her first start for the senior team in the final game of the 2014 season against Everton and was expected to feature more for the side.

Strong in the tackle, she was slated for big things this season as she had outgrown football at the development level and had been marked as a possible replacement for Casey Stoney in the senior side.

Just 18, Sampson suffered the injury during training prompting the knee operation however the exact nature of the injury has not yet been made clear.

Everyone here at Cannon Towers wishes Vyan all the best with her rehabilitation.
