People don’t often talk about Nacho Monreal.

Since his arrival from Malaga in 2013 he’s kind of just been there with very little comment every being made about him.

That, of course, all changed on Monday night against Manchester United when he rampaged forward and showed a striker’s touch as he opened the scoring for Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Despite enjoying a stellar season which has seen him oust Kieran Gibbs from the first-choice left-back slot, he certainly hasn’t’ been receiving accolades the way his more creative-minded teammates have.

Deciding to do something about that, Mikel Arteta has been speaking to the Arsenal matchday programme about his compatriot.

Arteta said

He took his goal very well and I think he’s been one of our most consistent players this season.

“You know what you are going to get when he’s playing he’s very focused, very determined in every action and he was in the right place at the right time on Monday. It was a cool finish.

“Everyone was happy for him because he’s such a great guy. He’s always in a good mood, his English is getting better but it’s funny sometimes the way he talks!”

It’s not clear if Nacho or Kieran will start against West Ham.

Returning from a back strain against United on Monday, Wenger could take the option of resting him on Saturday given the game against Monaco on Tuesday.
