Wellington Silva has admitted that he is in contact talks with Arsenal about extending his current deal.

Speaking to the Spanish paper Marca, Silva, 22, who is on loan with Almeria, said

“My representative spoke with me recently because we are dealing with my [contract] renewal.

“I only have one year left at Arsenal. They want me to carry out pre-season there and I am very happy about this news. But now I am at Almeria and my thoughts are here.

“Since Arsenal signed me I have had the dream of being able to play with them. I hope to do pre-season well in order to stay there.”

With work permit issues now cleared up the youngster, who appears to have overcome the attitude problems which dogged him when he first arrived in Europe, has been enjoying a great season in La Liga and really seems to have made a step up this year.

Will he get a chance with Arsenal next season?

It’s hard to see it and another loan most likely beckons, perhaps in the Premier League this time to try and get him acclimatised to the English league.
