West Ham will have to pay £10m for Carl Jenkinson if they want to make his loan deal permanent.

That’s according to a number of papers.

The right back has nailed down a starting spot with the Hammers and is keen to continue playing football regularly.

While he would no doubt love that to be with Arsenal, the life-long Gooner is behind Mathieu Debuchy, Hector Bellerin and even Calum Chambers in the pecking order at the club.

Just a few days we brought you the tweet, sent by one of West Ham’s owners, David Gold, which seemed to hint that a deal was in the works.

It’s unlikely that Arsenal will get £10m for Jenks who has still got three years to run on his Arsenal contract.

The 23 year-old would, of course, carry the English premium but it’s hard to see West Ham agreeing to that fee.

It would be more realistic to expect any deal to be done around the £7-8m mark.

Given Arsenal paid a reported £1m for the player, it would still be a great bit of business, even if it will be sad to see him go.
