Aaron Ramsey looks set for another spell on the sidelines.

The midfielder picked up his third hamstring injury of the season on Tuesday night not long after coming on as a second half substitute in place of Theo Walcott.

Speaking to the media after the game Arsene Wenger admitted that the recurrence of Ramsey’s muscular problems were a concern.

Wenger said

“It looks like it [a hamstring]. I don’t know how bad it is yet. Just visually, it didn’t look good. When a guy stops straight away and sits down, that’s not good news.

“There’s a recurrence now of a few muscular injuries and it’s difficult – we haven’t found out why.

“I basically left him out today because I wanted to be cautious with him. I had to bring him on – I had a hesitation between Flamini and him – because we lacked a a bit of offensive power.

“It was not the best of decisions.

“Last year was a thigh but this year it’s a recurrence of hamstrings. You cannot say it’s no worry because after the player doesn’t play with the freedom in mind.

“He’s not overplayed. Before I never looked at him, I just played him in every game but since he’s had these problems I’m a bit more cautious with him.”

Ramsey wasn’t the only Arsenal casualty on the night with Alexis Sanchez also having to be taken off after failing to shake a knee problem after being clattered by Matthew Upson in the first half.

Wenger admitted that he had not spoken to the doctor and did not know if Alexis would be ruled out for any length of time but I would be extremely surprised to see him line up against Boro in the Cup at the weekend.

Then again, he’s made of different stuff than you and I.

As for Aaron Ramsey, I wouldn’t expect to see him for the rest of the month at best.

Hopefully I’m wrong.
