Serge Gnabry has not featured in the Arsenal first team for almost a year.

Sidelined with a knee injury that the club said very little about, he attempted a comeback in 2014 only to suffer a set back.

Back in training for a few weeks now and with minutes under his belt with the u21’s when they played Newcastle earlier in the month, Gnabry is excited to be able to help Arsenal in the second-half of the season, but knows that he faces a massive task to get into the first team give the talent than Arsene Wenger has at his disposal.

Gnabry told Arsenal.com

“I’m doing well at the moment.”

I’ve been in training for a couple of weeks now and I’m feeling good and healthy. I’m in a good place. I’m feeling good, I don’t have pain in my knee anymore.

“At the moment I’m in a good position. I didn’t take part in the first half of the season but I’m hoping I will in the second.

“It’s very exciting. We’ve got a big squad – I’m a young player and obviously there are players like Alexis, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo. We’ve got a massive squad up front.

“I love to compete with those people and to learn from them, so I’m really happy to be involved in the team.”

“I think we’re doing well this season.

“We haven’t lost all the games against the big teams this season, so I think we’ve become a lot stronger.

“In training, the intensity and the quality has become higher from what I’ve seen in the last couple of weeks.

“We have a lot of people who can play in the same positions, so I think the competition really elevates you.”

Still only 19, it almost feels as if Gnabry has all been forgotten about by many people over the last year.

Now listed on the official Arsenal site as a striker, who would you rather have in the squad – Gnabry or Campbell?

What a player to have coming back!
