Arsenal goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain is one of five Arsenal players to be included in England’s squad for the upcoming Cyprus Cup.

Chamberlain, a veteran of the competition England finished as runners-up in last year after winning it the year before, spoke to Sky Sports about the upcoming tournament which is being used as preparation ahead of the World Cup in the summer.

She said

“It’s a great competition to give people tournament experience because friendlies take place every couple of months whereas at a World Cup or a European Championships you can play six games on the bounce.

“How does your body adapt to that? How do you mentally adapt to that? Although the Cyprus Cup is a friendly tournament you’re in it to win it and you have to treat it like a World Cup Finals.

“It’s also a good experience especially for younger players coming through to get the vibe of how it all works and what you need to put your bodies through in a tournament.”

The Cyrpus Cup takes place in March with England’s tournament getting underway on 4th March with a game against Finland before playing Australia on 6th and Netherlands on 9th.
