Danny Welbeck has revealed that the Arsenal players are ‘devastated’ after losing at White Hart Lane.

The Englishman was making his first appearance of 2015 after missing the start of the year with a thigh problem that he picked up over the hectic Christmas period.

A surprise starter against Spurs, replacing Walcott in the starting lineup, Welbeck was instrumental in Arsenal opening the scoring through Mesut Ozil.

Skinning Danny Rose, Welbeck crossed to Giroud who fluffed his shot so badly it turned into the perfect pass for the unmarked German.

But, two goals from Harry Kane would make sure the points stayed in Middlesex.

Speaking to Arsenal.com after the game, Welbeck said

“The boys are devastated to lose the game and it’s not nice for us to come here and lose the derby.

“It’s a massive game for the whole club, the fans and it’s something that we’re really disappointed about.

“We came here with good confidence and we thought that we could get the three points today. We went ahead, started well and then tailed off towards the end.

“As a team, going forward we didn’t do as well as we could have done and they took advantage of that. It was really disappointing and on a personal level it was difficult for me to get back in the swing of things after being out for a few weeks.”

Arsenal don’t have too long to feel sorry for themselves with Leciester arriving at the Emirates on Tuesday night for another Premier League game.

About that match, which gives Arsenal a chance to get straight back to winning ways, Welbeck said

“That’s a plus point in football.

“We’ve got a couple of days turnover and then we’ve got another game in the Premier League, so we’ve got to prepare well for that game.”
