You can usually tell how well we’ve played by how happy I would have been with a draw at the end.

To be honest, I think a draw would’ve been generous on Saturday.

The game started frantically with both sides passing the ball quickly but after a while we found it difficult to get a foot hold in the game.

We staged a few decent attacks, which resulted in a brilliant goal, and continued to look dangerous at points during the first half.

In the second half, the home team, quite simply, wanted it more.

They were more up for it than we were, looked fitter than us and looked dangerous throughout.

We looked lackluster and by the end seemed to have developed a ‘hit it and hope’ attitude when it came to attacking.

David Ospina 7

Made some quality saves and the loss could’ve been worse if it hadn’t been for him. Occasionally a bit slow but could be down to the knock he picked up in the first half.

Hector Bellerin 5

Worked hard but kept being dragged centrally too often leaving us exposed down the right side.

Per Mertesacker 6

Some vital interceptions and decent clearances. One or two sloppy clearances here and there.

Laurent Koscielny 6

Looked uncharacteristically knackered. Made some good clearances but towards the end of the match became sloppy (as did most of our players).

Nacho Monreal  6.5

Excellent today despite the result. Very assured, great clearances and cautious going forward away from home against a decent team.

Francis Coquelin 6.5

Tidied up and cleared stray balls well. Also controlling the ball better and better by the game.

Aaron Ramsey 5.5

Sloppy and inaccurate while passing.

Danny Welbeck 5.5

Slightly rusty and didn’t help Bellerin enough, contributing to a lot of space for Spurs to attack down our right. This will hopefully improve with playing time. Good pass into the box to help Giroud assist Ozil’s goal.

Santi Cazorla  6

Had a relatively quiet game. Skillful and creative but not as accurate as usual.

Mesut Ozil  7

Fantastic goal and when we managed to actually get the ball up the pitch, delivered the ball into the box neatly.

Olivier Giroud 6

Getting in the right spaces and decent hold-up play but not as strong as usual.

SUBS

Tomas Rosicky  5

Bags of energy compared to the rest of us. Trying hard to create chances.

Theo Walcott 5

Pace made a difference but too little too late. Intercepted balls well and was eager to get on the attack.

Chuba Akpom  N/A

Was only on for a couple of minutes; not long enough to make a real impact.
