Arsenal have appointed a new member to their coaching team.

Serge van den Ban has joined the club and will be in charge of coaching Arsenal’s youngest goalkeepers at the Hale End Academy in the under-6 group up to under-16 level.

Van den Ban will oversee all of the goalkeeping coaches at the Academy and arrives with extensive experience, having been the goalkeeping coach a AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands as well as Ajax, Utrecht and with the Dutch under-15’s.

Head of Arsenal’s youth academy, Andres Jonkiers, said about van den Ban’s arrival

“I am delighted that Serge is joining us. He brings great experience and is an expert in developing young goalkeepers.”

Born in Haarlam, the 35-year-old former goalkeeper represented the Netherlands at youth level himself and has 250 appearances for a number of clubs in the Dutch leagues.
