According to reports in France, Arsene Wenger is ‘ignoring’ Loic Perrin.

The central defender has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during this window and his club, Saint Etienne, were even open to selling their captain if the right offer came in from Arsenal.

Now, however, despite Arsenal’s need for a player in that position, Wenger is looking elsewhere and the French report seems rather mystified by the whole thing given Arsenal’s obvious need in that department.

Maxifoot reports that Arsenal first approached Perrin’s agent a while ago but since that contact nothing more has been heard from them.

The defender told Al Jazeera

Now we talk a little less.

I do not know where it [the transfer] is, I have not heard.

There are a host of central defenders, predictably, being linked with Arsenal in this window and while it seems like Arsenal have a number of names on their list they are certainly doing their due diligence before committing.

It’s almost as if they haven’t know since the summer then needed a centreback and have only just realised they should probably do something about that.

At least, that is how it appears from the outside with only a fraction of the information available, the reality is probably something much different.

We’ll probably never know what though.
