After Arsenal’s win over Brighton secured passage into the next round of the cup, thoughts turned to who the Gunners could get in the next round.
With half of the Premier League teams already eliminated, Arsenal have a great chance to not only retain the trophy they claimed in May but to write Arsene Wenger into the history books as the competition’s most successful manager.
Not bad for someone who is accused of not caring about the FA Cup.
Speaking after the game, Theo Walcott, who opened the goalscoring at the AMEX after just 89 seconds to net his first since returning from the cruciate injury which sidelined him for the guts of a year told Arsenal.com
We’ve got to believe that this is a great opportunity and we want to hold on to the cup. It’s our cup and it’s a massive opportunity looking at all of those teams that haven’t gone through.
It depends on the draw but we believe that with the team that we’ve got and the players coming back to fitness, we can beat anyone.
The draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup will take place on Monday night at aproximately 7.20pm live on BBC one and Arsenal, given number 12 for this draw, could be paired with any one of the following teams:
- Crystal Palace
- Cambridge United or Manchester United
- Blackburn Rovers
- Bradford City
- Derby County
- Preston North End or Sheffield United
- West Bromwich Albion
- Aston Villa
- Reading
- Liverpool or Bolton Wanderers
- Leicester City
- Rochdale or Stoke City
- Sunderland or Fulham
- West Ham United
- Middlesbrough
