Arsenal eased past Hull and into the fourth round of the FA Cup after a professional display at the Emirates.

Goals from Per Mertesacker (from a corner no less) and Alexis Sanchez from the edge of the box sealed the win but it probably should have been more.

Theo Walcott made his first start for exactly one year and could have marked his return with a goal but fluffed his lines. The most important thing is that he made it through the game without any problems and his sharpness will return in time. Joel Campbell also had a few good chances to get on the scoresheet but is certainly showing signs of improvement.

Speaking after the game, Arsene Wenger confirmed that he did indeed ask Alexis if he’d like to miss the game and have a well-earned rest. Alexis’ response was to play, score, grab an assist and leave with the man of the match award. It’s like he’s the only one who doesn’t know he’s supposed to be knackered.
