Arsene Wenger delivered some good news after his side’s FA Cup win at the Emirates on Sunday against Hull.
Speaking after the game which saw the Gunners run out 2-0 winners thanks to a goal from Per Mertesacker (and from a corner!) and Alexis Sanchez, the Arsenal boss revealed that both Mathieu Flamini and Aaron Ramsey have a chance of making the squad for the game against Stoke next weekend.
Wenger said
Mathieu Flamini could be back, Aaron Ramsey has a little chance. Nobody else.
Mikel Arteta will be longer. I think Flamini should be available for selection and maybe Ramsey has a little chance to be back.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was struggling late on after he suffered a clash of knees is not expected to be ruled out for any time with Wenger adding
It’s just a knock, he should be alright.
It is widely expected that Mesut Ozil will also make his return from lengthy injury in the game against Stoke as well. The German playmaker, who has been out since October with a knee injury, returned to full training last week and barring any problems between now and Sunday, he should feature.
Meanwhile, Theo Walcott made his first start for Arsenal in exactly one year and about his winger, le boss said
There were some positive signs because he was dangerous. You could see that he has not lost the quality of his runs and he looked dangerous.
He lacks a little bit of competition and is not used to challenges but that will come. He has been out for a year. For what he has done after being out for a year, it’s quite positive.
