Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski will spend the rest of the season in Italy with Inter Milan if reports today are to be believed.

The German, who found himself out-of—favour this season will travel to Italy tonight for a medical after which he is expected to sign on loan until the summer when Inter will have an option to buy the forward. The medical is expected to take place on Saturday.

It is being claimed that he is taking a pay cut to help facilitate the move and make up the gap between what Arsenal wanted and what Inter were willing to pay. They will, reportedly, pay €600,000 for the loan.

While I completely understand why Podolski is being allowed to leave, the fact that we are also likely to see Yaya Sanogo leave for the rest of the year as well means that Arsenal are getting dangerously close to being short at the front like they are at the back.

Obviously Joel Campbell and Chuba Akpom are both at the club but will they be able to fill the void Podolski leaves in the squad?

Not only did he bring with him an ability to grab goals from the bench, he also brought experience to the club as well, something that the youngsters certainly do not offer.

It looks like it’s going to be an interesting window for Arsenal. Whether that is for good or bad reasons remains to be seen.
