Kieran Gibbs will be included in Arsenal’s matchday squad for their game against Manchester City on Sunday.

The full back, who has been sidelined since New Year’s Day’s game against Southampton with a heel injury, underwent a fitness test on Friday and, speaking to the media at his press conference the same day, Arsene Wenger said

He has a test today. He should come back into the squad.

Whether or not he goes straight back into the starting lineup or not remains to be seen.

Nacho Monreal has performed admirably all season whether he has been used at right back or in the middle to cover for Laurent Koscielny’s absence due to his dodgy Achilles and it would be a tad harsh to see him dropped to the bench for the game at the Etihad.

It’s likely that we will see the Spaniard keep him place with Gibbs starting the game on the bench.
