Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not take any part in Sunday’s game.

The midfielder, who is struggling with a groin injury, is set to miss not only Arsenal’s game against Aston Villa at the Emirates this weekend but could also be absent from the squad that travels up the Seven Sisters Road next week to face that lot at the Lane.

Speaking at his pre-Villa press conference, Arsene Wenger said about the Ox

He could be out longer. He may be a bit short for the Tottenham game.

The Ox has struggled with groin problems for a while now but with many of Arsenal’s perma-crocks now recovered and back in the squad his absence won’t be felt as heavily as it could have been.

Danny Welbeck is expected to be included in the squad for the game at White Hart Lane next week and could even make a surprise appearance on Sunday with Wenger adding

He’s still out. He could be available on Sunday but he’s definitely available next week.

Given that he is not scheduled to return to training until Monday it’s unlikely we will see him at the weekend given that he hasn’t played since the end of last year.

Alexis Sanchez is also unlikely to be risked as the forward recovers from a minor hamstring problem.
