Arsenal have apparently submitted a bid for Real Madrid’s defensive midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

The offer, which was reported in Spain by Marca, proposed that the midfielder sign for Arsenal in the summer.

According to the report Illarramendi is happy with the offer and wants to move to London with Arsenal putting on the table and ‘an adventure that he would accept without thinking.’

Not only that, as they’ve just managed to land Lucas Silva, another player Arsenal were linked with, Real Madrid, will try and talk him into leaving during this transfer window.

Which all seems rather lovely and sweet, we want him, he wants us – a match made in heaven.

That is until you realise that just 24 hours ago the player said

“Today, the club has not said anything about my departure.

“I want to stay at Real Madrid. I’m very happy at this club and in this city. I’m only looking towards this Saturday’s game.

“Lucas Silva? I don’t know anything about him, the club have not told me anything.”

Of course, things can change very quickly in football.

Not that long ago Mesut Ozil was talking about how he wanted to stay with the very same club and then he was in an Arsenal shirt and we were all putting umlauts over everything that even looked like a vowel.

Moving to the Spanish giants in 2013 from Real Sociedad for a fee of £24m, the 24-year-old has made 21 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions this season so far.
