Despite letting Lukas Podolski leave and attempting to send Yaya Sanogo away, Arsenal could also see Joel Campbell leave this winter.

According to reports in Spain (Jornal dos Desportos) Arsenal and Real Sociedad are in ‘advanced talks’ regarding the signing of Campbell on loan for the rest of the summer.

David Moyes has certainly been very keen to bring the Costa Rican in on loan but the Spanish side have been aware that because Arsenal were already letting two forwards go, getting a third could be tricky.

That being said, there was also talk of Arsenal offering Campbell a new contract to protect their investment. His current deal expires in 2016.

The Spanish press are valuing Campbell at around €8m (£6.25m) but there is no talk that this will (or would be) anything more than a loan at this point.

So.

What is the point of Joel Campbell?

I’ve been asking this question a lot this season, not in a mean way, I just genuinely don’t understand why Arsene Wenger has kept him at the club when he clearly doesn’t fancy him that much.

That being said, it would be utter madness to send three strikers out on loan in one window in the middle of the season.

Probably means it’s nailed on to happen then, I guess.
