Buy all the Ipswich players!

While there have been reports floating round for a couple of months now that Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Ipswich’s young English left back Tyrone Mings (confirmed by Wenger), an article in the Sun on Saturday suggested that Arsenal are also keeping an eye on another young Ipswich star – midfielder Teddy Bishop with a view to a £10m move.

Bishop only made his senior team debut for Ipswich in August but has since made a further 16 appearances for Ipswich this season, scoring once and providing five assists. Manchester United are also said to be interested in the young Englishman who is comfortable playing in the heart of midfield or just off a striker.

In a similar situation to Mings (who was released buy Southampton ages 16) I’d be very surprised if either player was being looked at to join the club this month (unless another club makes a move or in the case of Mings – Nacho Monreal leaves which isn’t happening).

I don’t really doubt our interest and in terms of young English Championship players being watched Derby’s Will Hughes, heavily linked with Liverpool, must be on the list as well, but I don’t think these are players being looked at for this window.

To put the kind of pressure on them to make the positive impact that will be needed of any January signings would be unfair.

Expect this story/stories to develop though.
