Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi has been invited to join the Nigerian u23 side despite having already turned out for England at u16, 17 and 18 level.

The nephew of Jay-Jay Okocha, Iwobi is the current captain of the Arsenal u21 side and has featured on the senior team’s bench this season.

Already a professional with Arsenal after signing when he turned 18 in 2014, his parentage allows him to represent either England or Nigeria.

Born in Lagos, the young striker was invited by Samson Siasia to join the team ahead of a qualifier which takes place next month for the All Africa Games.

It is not yet clear which country Iwobi will opt for but after joining Arsenal when he was just eight, he certainly seems to have a bright future ahead of him.
