One nil up after two minutes, two nil up by half time.

Somehow, from this great position, Arsenal managed to turn a stroll by the seaside into a battle for FA Cup survival.

Despite his goal, Theo turned in a shockingly wasteful performance, whilst Szczesny- again- failed to save either of the two shots Brighton managed to get on target.

I’ve been saying it for years, the guy is a total waste of space and nowhere near the standard required from an Arsenal #1. We were also lucky that Calum Chambers didn’t concede a penalty with a daft handball late on.

Tomas Rosicky once again showed by Arsène Wenger was wrong to ignore him throughout the first half of the season with a masterful display, summed up by that brilliant volley.

I found the constant “no look” passing a bit wearisome but he was head and shoulders above his teammates who defended like dunces.

With all the changes Wenger made, it was a bit of a shambles. I thought it was worrying we had to turn to Alexis and then Coquelin, who Wenger has been very lucky with.

I’m also wondering when Mesut Özil will start imposing himself in a manner befitting a £42m signing.

We’ve got Middlesbrough in the next round. As well as beating Manchester City in the last round, they knocked us out of the Carling Cup in 2004.

Proceed with caution!
